Caleb G. Abrams is an Onöndowa’ga:’ (Seneca) father, filmmaker, and multimedia artist based out of present-day Brantford, Ontario and Buffalo, New York. Raised on the Seneca Nation’s Allegany Territory of Ohi:yo’, his work pushes back against settler-colonial narratives while creating space for Indigenous stories of truth, community, and connectedness through a shifting lens of documentary, magical realism, and surrealist video art. In addition to writing, directing, and producing his own short films, Abrams has also created work in collaboration with Vision Maker Media, Toward Castle Films, Skipping Stone Pictures, WNED-TV (PBS Buffalo & Toronto), the Aunties Dandelion Collective, Odawi Law PLLC, the Seneca Nation of Indians, and the Seneca-Iroquois National Museum. In 2021, he served as a consultant on the SHOWTIME special event series, Dexter: New Blood (2021). An experienced public speaker, Abrams has presented his work at venues throughout Hodinohson:ni’ country, i.e. the northeast United States and southern Ontario. His forthcoming short film, The Burning of My Coldspring Home, is scheduled to completion Fall 2023.
